Windows 2000

  1. On the Desktop, right-click My Network Places and then select Properties.
  2. Right-click Local Area Connection and then select Properties.
  3. From the Networking tab, the Type of dial-up server I am calling: should be set to PPP: Windows 95/98/NT4/2000, Internet.
    Sample of how the Windows 2000 Network properties should look
    • Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) should be checked.
    • If available, File and Printer Sharing For Microsoft Networks should be checked.
    • If available, Client for Microsoft Networks should be checked.
  4. Click OK.

Windows XP

  1. Click the Start button and then select My Network Places.
  2. Right-click My Network Places and then select Properties.
  3. Right-click Local Area Connection and then select Properties.
  4. From the General tab, Client for Microsoft Networks should be checked if available.
    • Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) should be checked.
    • If available, File and Printer Sharing For Microsoft Networks should be checked.

Windows 98

  1. From the Desktop, right-click Network Neighborhood and then select Properties.
  2. A network adapter should appear in your network stack. In this example, the network adapter is the 3Com Fast EtherLink XL 10/100Mb TX Ethernet Adapter.
