Is the modem functional?
- Check to see if the modem is functional. Unplug the modem from the computer and the phone jacks. With only the power connected, check the lights. If all the modem's lights are on, this may indicate a malfunction in the modem. Contact Web-ster technical support.
No power light
- If the power light does not show green, check all plugs to make sure they are correctly installed and securely connected. If you are using a surge protector, make sure the surge protector is turned on. If the surge protector has a breaker overload button, reset the surge protector by pressing the button. Make sure the toggle switch on the back of the modem is in the On position.
No WAN light
- If the WAN light does not turn on, check all plugs and cables to make sure they are correctly installed and securely connected. Check to make sure the cables are plugged into their correct ports--from the DSL port on the microfilter to the ADSL port on the modem. To see how to properly connect the hardware, refer to the diagram below.

- The modem will operate best when located within 12 feet of the outlet. If the phone cable connecting your modem to the outlet is more than 12 ft. long, install a shorter cable.
- If you do not have a POTS splitter, make sure all phone jacks in use on the premises are filtered. Phones that are not filtered must be unplugged.
No LAN light
If the LAN light does not come on, check all plugs and cables to make sure they are correctly installed and securely connected. Verify that the NIC was properly installed in your computer according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Troubleshooting the connections
- To troubleshoot connections problems, see steps 1-3, below. Refer to the diagram as needed.
- Plug the electrical adapter from the wall outlet or surge protector into the modem, and then flip the toggle switch to On.
- Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN port, and then plug the other end into your computer.
- Plug one end of the phone cord into the ADSL port, and then plug the other end directly into a phone line microfilter (or phone jack, if you have a POTS splitter). If you have a phone line microfilter with a DSL side and a Phone side, make sure the cords are plugged into the correct sides.
