Is the modem functional?
- Check to see if the modem is functional. The pwr (power) light should come on and stay on when the modem is plugged in and the PWR-SW (power switch) is pressed in. If the modem does not appear to be functioning correctly, contact Web-ster Technical Support.
No power light
- If the power light does not show green, check all plugs to make sure they are securely connected. If you are using a surge protector, make sure it is turned on. If the surge protector has a breaker overload button, reset the surge protector by pressing the button.
No DSL light
- If the DSL light does not turn on, check all plugs and cables to make sure they are correctly installed and securely connected. Check to make sure that the cables are plugged into the correct ports.
- To see how the hardware connects, refer to the diagram below.

- The modem operates best when located within 12 feet of the outlet. If the phone cable connecting your modem to the outlet is more than 12 ft. long, install a shorter cable.
- If you do not have a POTS splitter, make sure all phone jacks on the premises with devices connected to them (telephones, fax machines, and so on) are filtered. Phones that are not filtered must be unplugged.
No ENET light
- If the ENET light does not come on, check all plugs and cables to make sure they are correctly installed and securely connected. Verify that you are using the supplied Ethernet cable, and make sure that the NIC is properly installed in your computer according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Troubleshooting the connections
- To troubleshoot connections problems, follow steps 1-3, below.
- For help connecting cables properly, refer to the diagram below.
- Plug the electrical adapter from the wall outlet or surge protector into the modem.
- Plug one end of the the Ethernet cable into the 10Base-T port, and then plug the other end into your computer.
- Plug one end of the phone cord into the DSL port, and then plug the other end directly into a phone line microfilter (or phone jack, if you have a POTS splitter). If you have a phone line microfilter with a DSL side and a Phone side, make sure the cords are plugged into the correct side.
