Dial-Up
Windows 2000
This article includes instructions for configuring a manual dial-up connection in Windows 2000.
If the Web-ster Internet connection is unavailable, then double-click the Make New Connection icon and follow the steps in the wizard to create a connection.
- Double-click the My Computer icon.
- Double-click the Control Panel icon.
- Double-click the Network and Dial-Up Connections icon.
- Right-click the Web-ster Internet connection.

From the menu, click Properties.
- Make sure the phone number is correct for your area. (Check the number for your area at the bottom of the page.)
- Make sure that the Use dialing rules box is unchecked.

Click the Networking tab.
- In the Components checked are used by this connection: list, make sure that Client for Microsoft Networksand Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) are displayed, and that a checkmark is placed in the box next to both of these entries.

Double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
- Click the Server Assigned IP Address option.
- Click the Server Assigned Name Server option.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the OK button again.
- Close the Network and Dial-up Connections screen.
- Double-click the Internet Explorer icon.
- From the Dial-up Connection screen, make sure the correct username and password are entered.
- Click the Dial button.
- Congratulations! Windows 2000 should now be dialed in to Web-ster Internet.
