Dial-Up

Windows 2000

This article includes instructions for configuring a manual dial-up connection in Windows 2000.

If the Web-ster Internet connection is unavailable, then double-click the Make New Connection icon and follow the steps in the wizard to create a connection.

  1. Double-click the My Computer icon.
  2. Double-click the Control Panel icon.
  3. Double-click the Network and Dial-Up Connections icon.
  4. Right-click the Web-ster Internet connection.
  5. From the menu, click Properties.
  6. Make sure the phone number is correct for your area. (Check the number for your area at the bottom of the page.)
  7. Make sure that the Use dialing rules box is unchecked.
  8. Click the Networking tab.
  9. In the Components checked are used by this connection: list, make sure that Client for Microsoft Networksand Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) are displayed, and that a checkmark is placed in the box next to both of these entries.
  10. Double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
  11. Click the Server Assigned IP Address option.
  12. Click the Server Assigned Name Server option.
  13. Click the OK button.
  14. Click the OK button again.
  15. Close the Network and Dial-up Connections screen.
  16. Double-click the Internet Explorer icon.
  17. From the Dial-up Connection screen, make sure the correct username and password are entered.
  18. Click the Dial button.
  19. Congratulations! Windows 2000 should now be dialed in to Web-ster Internet.
