Dial-Up
Windows XP
This article includes instructions for configuring a manual dial-up connection in Windows XP.
- Click the Start button.
- Click the Control Panel icon.

Click Network and Internet connections.
If you are in classic mode, then you will not see Network and Internet Connections. Instead, click the Network Connections icon and skip to step 5 (below). - Click the Network Connections icon near the bottom of the screen.
- Right-click the Web-ster Internet icon.

From the menu, click Properties.
- Check to make sure the phone number is correct for your area.
- Make sure that the Use dialing rules box is unchecked.

Click the Networking tab.
- In the This connection uses the following items: list, make sure that both Client for Microsoft Networks and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) are displayed, and make sure that the boxes next to both are checked.

Double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
- Click the Obtain an IP address automatically option.
- Click the Obtain DNS server addresses automaticallyoption.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the OK button again.
- Close the Network Connections screen.
- Click the Start button.
- Click the Internet Explorer (or Internet) icon.
- From the Dial-up Connection screen, make sure that the correct username and password are entered.
- Click the Dial button.
- Congratulations! Windows XP should now be dialed in to Web-ster Internet.
