Using Profiles
Netscape Profiles
Netscape profiles allow different users to access the same computer and browser while keeping their preferences, e-mail accounts, and other information separate. Work and home use may require different profiles in order to separate the use of the browser services. Netscape profiles allow one installation of the Netscape browser to be used by multiple users or in separate environments (for example, home and work).
The Netscape startup screen for selecting available profiles is shown below.
When you initially set up Netscape, a Default Profile is created. You are not presented with the selection above until additional profiles are created.
- Exit Netscape completely.

From the Start menu, select Programs, then click Netscape,and then click Profile Manager.

- Click the Create Profile button, and then click Next.

You are presented with the directions below. Click Next.

Enter your profile name. This can be your real name or another name that's related to what the profile is to be used for.

- You can accept the default location for the new profile or browse to a location of your choice by clicking the Choose Folder button.
- If the Language Packs or Regional Content Packs are installed, click the Region Selection button and choose which Language/Content you want.
- Click Finish.

The first screen presented within the Profile Manager displays your new profile. Click Exit.

Launch Netscape. Your new Profile selection is presented.

As you begin using the new profile, you may be asked for additional information during certain services that require it (for example, checking your e-mail). Provide this information as needed to complete your profile.
